According to forecasters, it's going to be another blustery winter. A repeat of La Nina is expected which means more snow, wind, and flooding than average.
The key to making it comfortably through these storms is to be prepared. I just stocked up on water, non-perishable food, and easy light fire logs this weekend. After last years ice storm nightmare, I want to be prepared for anything.
Here is a basic list of recommended supplies by the state campaign - Take Winter By Storm
- Battery powered/Hand-crank radio
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Cell phone with car charger
- Thermal emergency blankets
- Carbon-monoxide detector
- Snow Shovel
- Outdoor faucet covers
- Camping stove and fuel
- Warm clothing and walking shoes for vehicles
- Small shovel and traction aids for vehicles.
I know everybody enjoys a snow day or two but that snow can change from beautiful to dangerous rather quickly in this area. Being prepared will make these days safer and less stressful.
